My Dormant Self

5C6E9CB9-F1A5-4339-B20F-0BA38738A015

Since when

Did my life become reduced to

glass computer screens and shiny cellphone sheens;

Did a daily stroll outside become a daily scroll online,

And my greatest desires hidden

under dusty books and piles of clothes?

Since when did I look to numbers for gratification

Instead of words,

And since when did I picture what others see

more than focusing the lens inward?

All the while my lifelong dreams slip into childhood fantasy,

Neglected, crushed by the weight of present trivialities,

Waiting to be uncovered.

Till then, I remain a dormant self

Waiting to be uncovered.
